While we're on the subject of blowers, Whipple has also developed a 50-state-legal, twin-screw supercharger for the PT Cruiser. The bolt-on kit is available in either black (shown here) or polished finishes and includes the blower, intake manifold, engine management system, air-bypass system, and installation hardware. Whipple claims a 55-percent increase in horsepower (to about 230hp) and a 58-percent increase in torque (to the mid-250 lb-ft range). More to the point, our sister publication Motor Trend track tested a Whipple-equipped Cruiser and got quarter-mile times that were about 1.5 seconds quicker than stock (15.27 vs. 16.65).
