Dodge PR, 1967
Sometimes there's lost treasure in our archives that's more than just photography. This time, we came across a letter postmarked July 6, 1967, in Detroit and delivered to editor Jim McFarland at HOT ROD's old 5959 Hollywood Blvd. address. It was sent by Dodge Division's Manager of Public Relations Frank Wylie (somewhat of a revered figure among Mopar freaks), and included some way-neat photos of a very early '68 Charger R/T. There were some out-of-focus shots of it flingin' dirt on a backwoods road, and others-such as the one shown here-in the rain on what appears to be the test track at Chrysler's Chelsea Proving Grounds. Today this would all be handled digitally.
