Night Stalker - 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4

Moving down the drivetrain, the Silverado's truck roots actually work to its advantage. The same HD transfer case and 4L80E trans that help haul serious cargo in heavier-duty Silverado 2500s help haul serious ass in lighter-weight drag trucks. Jim says the lengths of the driveshafts had to be slightly altered and the crossmember was modified, but other than that, the transplant was straightforward. The only other drivetrain mods are a shift kit and a B&M trans cooler. Even the front and rear axles are still stock.

As you may have suspected, no one builds the ideal nocturnal predator without hunting for prey. "I love to street race," Jim says. "I go out at least once a week and have started thinking about making some road trips with it. A few weeks ago I drove down to Kansas City and won a few bucks, but mostly it's just for fun." Not that we'd ever promote such activities, of course, and we'd say that we've saved Jim from a life of crime by sharing his speed secrets with about 7 million of the world's biggest gearheads. Try getting a race now, pal.

But glory is forever, and Jim thanks the folks at LS1Tech.com for their help in "making the buildup easy." He assures us there's more on the way. "I am nowhere near done with this project. Next comes some safety equipment, a 409 built by Agostino Racing Engines (Ontario, Canada), more boost and nitrous, and then 9s while still driving like stock."

So please, try not to be as foolish as a rat or mosquito the next time you spot an "easy" target, or you just might set an all-time record in lameness by getting wasted by a fullsize truck. You'd make the '03-'04 Los Angeles Lakers seem like a bunch of winners, but then again, who could blame you?.
