How They Make It:
Brodix Cylinder Heads
Perhaps the most prolific high-performance parts of the last 30 years have been aftermarket aluminum cylinder heads. The small-block Ford and the big- and small-block Chevys have benefited the most from an explosion in the availability of affordable, aftermarket heads that are light years better than even the full-race stuff from decades ago. One of the companies that has been there since the beginning and has been steadily increasing its offerings of heads is Brodix, located in the tiny, rural burg of Mena, Arkansas. Since the '60s, Brodix (the name is a combination of founders J.V. Brotherton and Francis Dix) has gone from a foundry to a company that builds heads primarily for hard-core racing applications. Today, Brodix has expanded to even more hard-core racing applications, but it has a ton of street heads, aluminum Chevy engine blocks, and a handful of intake manifolds, as well. -Rob Kinnan
